2008 LOWER MAINLAND PROFESSIONAL GOLF TOUR

As the new Commissioner for your Lower Mainland Srixon Tour, I’d like to welcome everybody to the 2008 season.

Srixon Sports Canada has again increased its Title Sponsorship of the Tour and is committed to growing the competitive arena provided by the Tour. A very special thanks goes out to Jamie Mackenzie, Director of Sales for Srixon along with Regional Sales Rep, Dave Hicks.

We are looking forward to a great season with a strong schedule, increased purses, and some key policy changes. The Tour has adopted a mission statement to assist in directing its future:

“To develop the skills of its members through a highly competitive professional tournament experience.”

All competitors of the Srixon Tour will be responsible for adhering to the Policies & Procedures outlined here. Special attention has been given to our Tour’s pace of play. For the 2008 season, tournament play will be predominantly in threesomes. In addition, strict disciplinary action will be taken against slow play, including: penalties, disqualification, and season-ending suspensions.

The Tour hopes to add several year-end recognition awards, including a Rookie of the Year award and Most Improved Player honours. This will be in addition to the Order of Merit recognition, sponsored again by Steve Savage of Nickel Heating & Ventilation. Brent Philp of GolfStar and Gord German of Prodigy Headwear have both agreed to supporting sponsorship roles. Thank you to both of these gentlemen for their support.

Finally, a big thank you to outgoing Commissioner Fraser Mulholland, who has donated much of his time in past years and is largely responsible for the Tour’s growth in recent years. Fraser will continue to stay on the Tour’s committee in an important advisory role, but will be able to focus on the development of his own tour, the Vancouver Golf Tour.
